When shopping in stores lots of times I get offered to apply for a store credit card to get an additional discount. I never apply for them as I don't think it's worth the credit pull.
I was wondering if I can say that I have bad credit and I don't think I would get approved for the card, but I would agree to try to apply if I can get the additional discount even if I get declined.
Then I would apply with a made up social security number, and obviously get declined, thereby getting the additional discount without the credit pull.
(This is all only if they would give the discount without actually getting approved for the card, which I have no idea if they would even do)
Was wondering,
1) will or could anything happen to MY real credit report. Meaning will the credit agency see all my correct info like name and address with an incorrect social trying to apply for a card thereby flagging my name as fraud?
2) if this would work, if I would want to do it again in the same store would I have to use the same 'fake' social? Wouldn't want to many name and social mismatches...
3) anyone ever try this before?
What are your thoughts? (Not asking if its ethical)
